"Nothing I've tried gets rid of it."

So tell us what you have tried. What settings have you changed?

Safari->Settings->General-> Safari opens with: ?

New windows open with: ?

NewTabs open with: ?

Homepage: ?

Safari->Safari Extensions...->what extensions have been installed?

What shows in those settings?

First of all, NONE of those websites are “open”, they are just configured for the various Safari features should you choose to visit one those websites. So please stopping using the term “open”. Websites appear in those windows only when they have been visited in the past. They don’t just appear on heir own without user actions.

If you correctly selected the website but the Remove button is greyed out then you have a bigger problem that may need to be troubleshot. First try restarting your Mac in Safe Mode and try again. If that work then it’s likely, as John Gault stated, that Bitdefender and/or iBlocker is mucking things up.

But my best advice is to just ignore those settings as they aren't doing anything and are hurting nothing.

So click on thrursdaynightpizza.com it and then click Remove. Your initial post was extremely misleading in that you stated you wanted a website to stop opening automatically. Now you state that this not what you meant, that you only find it in settings. So it’s not doing anything but taking up a little space and you are annoyed by it? Really?

After removing that site from the Reader menu next go to Safari->Settings->Privacy->Website data:->Manage Website Data->type thursdaynightpizza in the search window. If it shows up remove it means you actually visited that website in the past. Click Remove.

I should have been clearer. The website which keeps loading automatically each time I open Safari is the same one each time, called thursdaynightpizzza.com, and it's not one I use. It only happens on my MacBook Air, not on my iMac. Nothing I've tried gets rid of it. I keep hoping each OS upgrade will stop this from happening, but not so far. I've tried changing Safari settings, no luck. I've run a complete Bitdefender scan and it hasn't picked up anything suspicious. But I'd still like to get rid of it. It's creepy.

Safari-Settings-General

Safari opens with: All Windows from last session

New windows open with: Start page

New tabs open with: Empty page

Homepage: https://weather.gc.ca/en/location/index.html?coords=45.590,-62.002

Extensions - are all connected to iBlocker, Bitdefender, MKPlayer

I should add a couple of things to clarify: this webpage I'm trying to get rid of (thursdaynightpizza.com) never actually shows up when I open Safari, it only shows up in Safari Settings, and it only shows up there on my MacBook Air, not on my iMac.

Sorry for the confusion. When I go to Safari Settings, and click on Websites, all of the items in the list on the left hand side of the screen (see image below), e.g. Reader, Content Blockers, Auto Play, etc. all show thursdaynightpizza.com as being currently open, even though it doesn't show up in Safari.

It won't allow me to remove it. When I click on thursdaynightpizza.com the Remove button is greyed out, and it doesn't work on any of the Currently Open Websites.

Next, I went to Safari->Settings->Privacy->Manage Website Data and typed in thursdaynightpizza in the search window. It said "No Saved Website Data".

Thank you for your patience. Do you have any other suggestions?
