Magic Keyboard (3rd Gen) Issues After iPadOS 26 Update – Anyone Else Experiencing This?
Since upgrading to iPadOS 26, my third generation Magic Keyboard has been absolutely maddening to use.
The biggest issue is with typing. Keys intermittently do not register correctly, and sometimes I get completely errant letters that I did not type. It almost feels like the keyboard input is being misinterpreted by the system. This is happening across multiple apps and is not limited to third party software.
Unfortunately the problem is not limited to typing. The trackpad behavior has also become chaotic. Cursor movement can be unpredictable, gestures do not consistently register, and scrolling can randomly jump or lag.
What is particularly frustrating is that the problem also occurs inside Apple’s own apps. I have experienced it in Notes, Safari, and Mail, which suggests this may be a system level issue rather than an app specific bug.
Things get even worse when peripherals are involved. If I connect additional accessories through USB C or via a hub, the keyboard and trackpad behavior becomes even more unstable.
If I remember correctly, something similar happened during a previous major iPadOS update when Apple keyboards had significant input problems until a later patch fixed it. This situation feels very similar.
So far I have tried the following with no success:
• Restarting the iPad
• Detaching and reconnecting the Magic Keyboard
• Cleaning the connectors
• Testing with and without external peripherals
Has anyone else with a third generation Magic Keyboard experienced similar issues after the iPadOS 26 update? If you found a workaround or fix, I would really appreciate hearing about it.
At the moment the device is borderline unusable for any serious typing or work.
