How do I authorize an old iPod 5:1:1 to back up purchased tracks on a computer?

i have an old ipod 5:1:1 version I am unable to back up 30 or so tracks back to my laptop. Error message says I need to authorise this computer I do so and it repeats the message. I have reached out to apple support as iPods are no longer listed for support to run up against a complete disregard of humanity or help they just say pick your device (it’s not listed 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️). Any one offer some help do I have any legal right to the tracks I have purchased

For music that you purchased from the iTunes Store, you can sign into your iTunes store account from your computer and download the tracks from there. No need to use the iPod.

That’s what I thought but im asked to authorise the computer I do (yes correct password) but it still won’t allow me to back them up to the laptop. Previously backed up to cloud till ran out of room 🤷‍♂️
