Downgrade Catalina to Mojave on 2012 MacBook Pro?
Hey All!
Got a hand-me-down from my school not too long ago! They were being given to different students and i was lucky to get one since im in journalism club! :D Macbook Pro from 2012. Has a DVD drive too! Awesome!
It came pre-installed with macos catalina.
Should I downgrade to mojave? Bootable USB? I can definitely assume right away that Catalina is probably one of the last supported OSes on this macbook model. Is it straining the mac at all for performance?
-----------------
Pros and cons of catalina:
- Apple TV,
Podcasts,
News,
Books,
all new apps!
- App support for later dates (even if theyre unsupported now, i still get later versions that websites support.)
- Fresh UI, More features? not sure what though.
- Possible performance strain...
Pros and cons of Mojave:
- Possible resource strain reduction? Battery time from full to empty is also increased due to less power consumption? Also, long-term battery lifespan due to less charging cycles?
- MOST LIKELY unsupported apps. (Browser for example) Still probably are holding up just fine on your average website, however?
- I will look like the COOLEST hipster around since i can walk in a coffee shop with an old mac and macos!
-----------------------
The outlook for this laptop is most likely some entertainment consumption like apple TV, Book reading, Youtube, Tiktok, maybe even games on Roblox if i feel like it?
And most likely google products like google docs, google classroom, and other services that are for education for my school in the future. (FYI, i am NOT using this as my main rig for editing and such. i have a computer tower for that!)
