Voice Control Keeps on Activating

Hi, I just got the iphone4 and went performing the normal sync. Upon completion, suddenly the voice control gets activated without being called upon. It does that all the time and it's getting annoying.

How can I get rid of this?

Iphone 4, iOS 4, nil

People keep suggesting that turning off Siri fixes the problem but for many people this isn't working. I turned off Siri a month ago and now I have the exact same problem with voice control

Activating randomly... like whenever I move my phone with headphones in. My podcasts also speed up and slow down or stop playing randomly.... this only happens when I listen to podcasts which ***** because I listen to them every day on my walks.... I've tried 3 different pairs of headphones so the only thing I can think of now is maybe the wires are loose in all 3? This is getting ridiculous... i also can't believe that someone from Apple hasn't chimed in yet with a solution as I believe this thread started in 2013.

I have the exact same problem!!

The voice control is activated by holding down the home button. My iphone 5s was working perfectly normal until i had some water damage to it, the phone itself is fine however my voice control ALWAYS comes on, when i'm at the gym, my music is constantly being interrupted. sometimes at night i can hear the beep sound when voice control comes on, it drives me CRAZY!!!!

I've tried everything but so far, turn off voice dialling and siri, there's no way i have found to successfully turn off the 'voice control when holding down home button' feature.

Voice Control keeps going on, then off, then on at random times. I've tried turning everything off, before this it was Siri. It seems like it gets worse with every update download.

This is the first, and last Apple product I will ever have. Several of my kids have them, I had no idea how bad Apple is. I was ambivalent about my last smartphone, I would love to have that Samsung back.

How much can you sell a 5C for, and what's the best way to do it ?

SOLVED!!

Symptoms: For about a week now my iPhone 5's Voice Control turns on randomly (sometimes tries to then call people), pauses/plays music randomly, sometimes makes music go into a "fast forward" type of mode, also trouble using phone charger (delayed charge after plugging in sometimes)

Solution: Thoroughly cleaned out charger port with pointy end of safety pin and dug out a LOT of pocket lint. Turns out that was causing charging issues.
Other stuff solved by repairing headphones (getting replacement pair from store i bought from). As it turns out, about 5 inches from the headphone jack, the wires were damaged and would short-out/screw-around-with the remote which was causing the big issues of voice control, play/pause, crazy music.

NOTE: Holding down home button on phone turns on voice control so people think that's what's causing the issue, but you can ALSO turn on voice control by holding down the play/pause button on your apple headphone's remote.

How interesting to have the same problem all the way from 2010 to 2016! It's been just 6 years for it; it's not like we could have a helpfully legitimate answer here. Alright here we go, #4077

iPhone 4 (Not S, nope I don't have Siri)

My Home button never worked, always used the Assertive Touch. BUT if I squeezed it a lot for a restart withe the on/off button it did.

When the Voice effin control problem started, the Home Button did not work in any possible way anymore. Searched a lot and comprehended I had to replace the Home Button. Blahblahblah same problem with closing apps and so on. Got my phone back, the Home Button worked. Today, 4 days later, same **** is happening.

My phone slipped into a watery floor so I blew dried it and now it's plunged into a bag of rice.

Music is not being heard without headphones, that's reasonable; I'm waiting for my phone to dry out completely.

But the Home Button has no relation with this.

iPhone 4 is one of the best heavy duty phones I've ever known. Apple is jamming it so we would buy the newer ones.

There is no way in **** to thank its customer service for helping everyone who's doomed to suffer from this problem. No wonder why Apple has regressed 10% this year. It better either care for its business or not whine at all.

Did Apple EVER respond to this thread? It seems like over and over again, I end up on here with some problem with my various MacBooks over the years, and it takes them forever to admit they introduced a problem. And even then their solutions are buy or pay or (if you're extremely lucky) give up your machine for several weeks while we replace it for free. Now it's this issue with the iPhone. It certainly looks like it might be due to their continual efforts to develop some new and proprietary standard (heaphones?) to sell more overpriced accessories. Apple, you are the biggest company on the block now, but your stuff should still work, and especially shouldn't break old features in new ways. At some point, your customer service needs to match the quality of your products (when they work!)

Playing music should not want to make throw your phone off a bridge, which crossed my mind today when I just needed to hear one song, and I did when it fast forwarded through the entire thing for me. Arg!

I used all the iphones from the first one which i jailbreaked by doing a shortcircuit on the motherboard and executing geohot program.

Since the siri introduced I have this problem.

I am trying to close a program and pressing the home button once and nothing happens, pressing again activates the voice control and even pressing again during that does nothing , it waits for voice command, and than fails. This is happened on iphone 5, 5s and happening 6. it has nothign to do with hardware. This is a programming done purposely trying to show that people are using voice command or siri and jack up the statistics. so that apple management thinks siri and voice command is used so widely they will continue to invest on it and not shrink the department. Thats the only assumption i can think of.

I have a similar problem, was given a BOSE speaker - as it has the older 30 pin connector I bought an adaptor so I can use my iPhone.

As soon as I connect the phone the Voice Control keeps appearing, can't ignore as it "beeps" whilst I'm listening to music. Tried the wiki link to turn off but still happens

Any alternative suggestions?
