If search history was deleted in Safari, it usually cannot be restored. When someone taps “Clear History and Website Data,” Safari permanently removes the browsing history, cookies, and search records from the device.
However, there are a few things you can check:
1. Check another Apple device
If Safari was syncing through iCloud, another device (such as a Mac, iPad, or iPhone) might still show the history if the deletion has not synced yet. They can open Safari on that device and check the History section.
2. Look at Screen Time
If Screen Time was enabled, it may show a list of websites that were visited. It will not show the exact search queries, but it can sometimes help identify which sites were opened.
3. Restore from a backup
If the device has an older backup through iCloud Backup or a computer backup using Finder or iTunes, restoring the device to that backup may bring back the browsing history. The important thing to note is that restoring a backup replaces the current data on the device with the data from the backup.
In most cases, once Safari history is cleared, it cannot be recovered. The only possible ways are checking another synced device, reviewing Screen Time website activity, or restoring the device from an earlier backup.
