Data not transferring to new IPhone 17

Many texts did not transfer to new iPhone 17 Pro (Only 2025 Texts and Pre-2025 Attachments Are Showing) this is ridculous. My new phone says syncing with iPhone paused.

a few months ago, on my old phone, I did an IOS update and all my calendar appts disappeared back to 2016! And, they disappeared 6 hours prior to IOS update.

no one at Apple could help. Anyone having similar issues?

Contacts and calendars sync to email servers, so if your email server connection is broken or your email account is deleted all contacts associated with that email account will disappear.

For texts there are two ways for you to manage them: Either sync them to iCloud, or back up your iPhone with its messages to your computer or iCloud backup.

iCloud+ has 2 independent functions. iCloud backups, and iCloud sync. It’s confusing because they both have the same name prefix. But they have no connection with each other. Go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud. You will see a bunch of switches (with iOS 16 or later also tap Show All). When you turn on a switch that data type will sync to iCloud. If you do this on multiple devices that share an Apple ID the selected data will sync to all of those devices.

You can also turn on iCloud Backups. This will back up your phone every night if the phone is plugged in, connected to Wi-Fi and locked.

But note that these are independent functions; anything that you sync by the first method will be excluded from the iCloud backups.
