ProMotion and display settings reset issues with dual Studio Display XDR Setup on Macbook Pro M2 Max
I just bought two Studio Display XDR to connect with my M2 Max Macbook Pro. Both are daisy-chained with a TB5 cable and connected to the MBP with another TB5 cable. Both cables are the original ones that got shipped with the Studio Display XDRs.
The displays itself are amazing, however, there are two severe issues that leave me scratching my head considering their price tag:
- I can't set any of them to ProMotion. Randomly it let's me put one of them to fixed 120Hz resolution, but neither am I able to set any of them to ProMotion nor can I set both to 120Hz fixed. Given that I use a Mac with an M2 Max, my understanding is that I should be able to configure both as ProMotion!?
- The display settings keep being reset to default settings, which is incredible annoying. Any time I leave the desk and come back a few minutes later, I have to configure display arrangement, resolution, frequency from scratch. This is incredibly annoying and not at all an Apple-like delightful user experience.
I hope these issues are known and will be fixed with an upcoming firmware update. Does anyone else have these issues? Would appreciate if some Apple representative would comment.
