Texts with no number only a name

What can I do about unsolicited Texts with no number?

I am getting unsolicited texts regarding Gambling type websites that I have never signed up to.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max is fully up to date on the software side. One evening this week I had over 13 texts between 18.00 - 23.59. None have numbers only names which are always different. My Provider states without a number they can do nothing. I try to block every single one of them, but the block never shows up on their name. It is driving me to distraction and every single one I have reported via the Report to Apple and 7726 system.

I only wish I could have all the money they claim is waiting for me, it would certainly make the bank balance look more healthy.

That usually means the messages are coming from email addresses through iMessage, not normal phone numbers. Spammers do this so it shows up as a random name instead of a number and makes it harder to block.

A quick thing that helps a lot is going to Settings → Messages → Send & Receive and setting it so you can only receive iMessages to your phone number, not your email addresses. You can also turn on “Filter Unknown Senders” in the Messages settings so they go to a separate tab and stop blowing up your notifications. Reporting them like you’ve been doing also helps Apple block those senders over time.
