Mac Pro 2013 won't start, no disk shown in macOS Recovery

my mac OS is not starting upon its own Mac Pro 2013 I have did this Is this what you've tried?


Start up from macOS Recovery

To start up from macOS Recovery, turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold one of the following combinations on your keyboard. Command-R is generally recommended, especially if you never installed macOS Sierra 10.12.4 or later… How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

Command (⌘)-R

Install the latest macOS that was installed on your Mac.


when it get to the disk part I do not see a disk and it stays here for more than 15 minutes. Please assist if you can

See if Diagnostics report any hardware issues or errors:

Then start with Option-Command-R to (try to) get the latest macOS version (macOS 12) for the Mac Pro Late 2013:

The download can quite possibly take hours, depending on the speed of your network connection.



That Mac first shipped with OS X 10.9, and it is likely that has had macOS 10.12 or later has been installed. Note: macOS 12 is five versions after macOS 10.12.

What version of macOS installer do you get when you enter Recovery Mode or Internet Recovery Mode?


Does this Mac use the original Apple OEM SSD from the factory, or a third party SSD? If it is using a third party internal SSD, then you must boot into macOS 10.13+ in order to see a third party NVMe SSD. Unfortunately some Macs may only boot into an online installer for the version of macOS which originally shipped with the Mac from the factory regardless of the keys used to boot.....such an old OS from the factory is too old to communicate with a third party internal NVMe SSD.


If this Mac is using the original Apple OEM SSD and the physical SSD is not seen, then the SSD has most likely failed.


When booted into macOS 10.13+ installer.....in Disk Utility you will need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the physical drives appear on the left pane of Disk Utility.

Using Disk Utility in Recovery, and if Show All Disks is enabled in Disk Utility, and you see no disks, then the Mac has a hardware problem that diagnostics somehow missed).


If you do see a disk (SSD), then erase it and format it as GUID partitioning GPT with APFS, then return back to the installer and see if the install now offers an SSD to install macOS on.
