AirPods Pro 2 refurbished: original or is a really good good fake?
Hello, I’m Italy and I’ve bought the Apple AirPods Pro 2 from a refurbished trust website (never had problems with this website) that is Refurbed. The seller is in France with very good reviews, I saw that they buy from Asian sellers (i.e. RIT GROUP(HK) Limited, that in his website says that is a "authorized Apple distributor")
I've read numerous posts and watched countless videos on how to spot "fake" AirPods Pro 2. I finally bought them and they arrived today.
Obviously, they don't come in the original boxes, but they look like new.
I ran all the tests I found online, and the earbuds seem to have passed all these “tests”:
- "Flashlight" test: you can see the internal chips just like the originals
- "Internal case" test: it doesn't open the side using finger nail, just like the originals
- Serial number are different (3 different ones, the printing on the earbuds and case matches the settings)
- "Tap" test on the case while charging and the light comes on, just like the originals
- Excellent noise cancellation (I can only compare them to the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro)
- Excellent spatial audio
- Head tracking working
- Real-time translation full working (downloaded languages)
- Perfect gestures (switch with ANC etc without problems)
- All functions work without problems or lag
- Siri works
- Automatic switching between iPhone, iPad, and Mac
- MagSafe with charging sound (not loud like fake ones)
- No creaking from the case
- Perfect FindMy, even with proximity (arrow)
- Truly excellent audio
- Changing earbuds is just like in the videos for the originals (quick with the glossy-edged earcups)
- Weight case: approxim. 51g, weight each AirPod: 5g approxim. (together approxim 11g), I don't have a very accuracy scale.
The only issues were that as soon as I opened them, it said "Bluetooth device" (as shown in the pictures) but when I reset them (15 seconds button) then they showed me “AirPods Pro”.
Other issue is that entering the serial number into Apple says "purchase date April 1, 1978." There's no CE/UK marking on the inside of the case, but I believe it is 'cause they are from asian market.
What else can I do to verify their authenticity? I've attached all the images of the initial connection, settings, FindMy, headphones and case, and the serial number on the Apple website.
There’s not Apple Stores in my island so I cannot do much except send it back.
Thanks to anyone who has the patience to read this far 😅
