Graphic not showing, only question mark

what does it mean? graphic does not show, only question mark, see below?

Hello Joan:

I am assuming that you are using the Apple Mail app to receive and read your emails.

On your iPhone, open Settings ➡️ Apps ➡️ Mail ➡️ Load Remote Images : Set this switch to ON.

One thing to note and that is that the image also has to be encoded correctly at the source (Sender of email) for it to appear properly on your iPhone. (Mentioned by Kilgore-Trout’s post above).

This means that the application was unable to download and display the image. Check your email app and ensure that Download Images and Media settings is set to ON or allowed for that folder.

Could also mean the image is incorrectly encoded in the source or an incompatible file type.

Thanks so much but 80 year old me is having trouble finding Download Images in my Apple Account-- looked in Apps Mail and iCloud. Where am I not looking?
