My advice would be to buy the Apple one. There have been recent posts on this site from people who had peripherals that didn't work with Tahoe but when they bought a genuine Apple adaptor they were OK. I agree that it's expensive, but you don't need one for every cable. I've got one I keep with my laptop, one in my every-day bag and one in the car just in case.
