Scam Imessage re card on apple wallet

I just had an Imessage “Your card has been added to a new Apple Pay wallet named “Samuel Device.” If you do not recognize this activity, please contact us immediately on *** it seems like a phishing text - and I won’t call either number. But how can I be sure. i’d be grateful if someone could help.

That is a scam. Apple will not send such messages, and there is no named wallets that anyone can add cards to that would prompt such messages.

Do not call the number.

Erase the message and forget about it.

Of the few exploits that might actually involve your Mac or iPhone,  the vast majority are caused by your believing criminal imposters who call or message you and blatantly LIE to you.

NEVER provide personally-identifiable information unless YOU initiated the contact, using known published contact information. Do not click on links or call back random phone numbers in unsolicited emails or texts, even if they appear to come from exactly the right sources.

Anything that makes you think it might be a scam IS a scam.
