Can I add 'Insert a text box' to the Pages menu?

No. The Pages menu content are fixed by Apple. Pages for Mac ships with the ability to insert a text box already on its toolbar. Here is the implementation in Pages v15.1.1.

That separate Text box icon that you show can be added from the customization panel, but is not on the Pages v15.1.1 toolbar by default when it is installed. Certainly not on mine, though I may now add it for simplicity. In fact, I just did… right where yours is located. 🧐

The Pages v15.1.1 (and older) for i/Pad/OS has an integrated Text box feature in the Shape tool on its toolbar, and the Pages for Mac crew decided to pull that stunt with the new version.

😎 You are correct. I had fallen into the habit of exclusively using the Toolbar to insert a Text box and blanked out that one exists on the Insert menu.

OK... maybe I did add it at some point. I certainly don't recall doing so, but... you know... old age, and all that... :)
