Iphone 16 Pro Max stopped USB-C wired charging after installing latest 26.3.1 update

My Iphone 16 Pro max "Wired Charging via USB-C stopped after installing latest IOS 26.3.1 XDR update. However, the phone can still charge via MagSafe wireless charging. I have tried Hard reset, restore the phone, went to the Apple Store.

The technician had a look at it and verified that the USB-C port is clean and does not have any issue. My apple carplay and usb headsets work just fine. Just that the phone refuses to be charged via USB-C.

I am 101% sure it is a software issue which apple developers need to have a look at. After I went to the store, I saw other people walking in with same issue which further solidified my findings.

Unable to charge via USB-C is a handicap, especially when I am connected with Carplay. I drive a lot and the inability to charge when on wired Carplay is something that is incomprehensible.

What you can do is leave a bug report with Apple: Product Feedback - Apple

You could also get on the phone with Apple and get your issue elevated up the chain until it reaches the people who can report it to the engineers (this is just hearsay from hearing other users talk about their experiences, by the way. If it’ll work, I couldn’t tell you for sure.)

Hello GuriMultani,

Problems with wired charging are usually due to a dirty charging port:

Check the charging port for lint or other debris (use a bright light and a toothpick).

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t charge

Hi MrBill,

Thank you, but as I have already mentioned in my post, there is no issue with charging port and it has been checked by Apple Genius bar already. Kindly go through the issue and the troubleshooting steps I have done so far in my post and suggest if anything else can be done which could help solving the issue.
