Help with the numbers app

Hello! I have been using the numbers app for several years now and it has worked flawlessly and I love it. However recently I have been getting this notification when I try and update any numbers. It says updating spreadsheet the app freezes, and then I cannot change anything… does anyone know how to fix? I already attempted to uninstall and reinstall the app.
