iPod touch 7th gen shows fewer playlists than MacPro iTunes says is on the iPod.

I recently bought a used iPod touch 7th generation, mostly as a replacement for my iPod Classic. The latter doesn't "play nice" with my MacPro or MacBook Pro, but works fine to play any of the 100 ish playlists I crated long ago in iTunes.

A few weeks ago, I was able to move about 50 complete playlists to the iPod touch. My first problem is a discrepancy between what I can see on the iPod, and what iTunes on my MacPro shows about the music living on the iPod.

My MacPro's view shows about 50 playlists existing on the iPod. But looking at the iPod display, it shows only 8 playlists. These were copied onto the iPod Touch by me.

Meanwhile, the iPod itself shows only eight of those 50 playlists.

Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Thanks

Mac Pro, macOS 10.14
