iPad alarms not showing dismissal slider or banner

Recently on my iPad I find that when an alarm sounds and the screen is off, no slider appears to turn the alarm off. If the screen is on, no banner message appears to stop it. I have to open the Clock app and then it stops by itself. I am using iPadOS 26.3.1

Any ideas on how to fix this?
