HOW TO EXPORT CALL RECORDING FROM NOTES TO M4A?

I recorded a call on my phone (17Pro, OS 26.3.1) using "record this call" from the Phone app. The recording ends up in Notes. I need to export the recording as a sound file that I can use in Quicktime and other apps, but I don't see a way to do this. I shared the recording to my MacBook Pro and it still opened in Notes. I found no way to export it as a sound file. Can anyone help me export it from Notes as an M4A or other sound file? Ideally, I'd also like to separately export the transcript as a text file.

This article may help: Record and transcribe a call on iPhone - Apple Support. In particular, the section “View a call transcript“ and, under bullet point #3, “Save the audio recording.”

Thank you for pointing that out. That's not a place I would have ever thought to look.

However, it's not working for me. Whether I click on"Save Audio File" or "Share Audio File," I get a dialogue box that says "Preparing," with a progress circle. I've tried a few times and the circle never progresses past a thin slice. It's a 2 hour recording, but still it should work eventually, right?

I haven't used that functionality so I'm not sure how long it takes to export or transcribe a recording.

My guess is that, considering that saving the recording it's under Call Transcript, your iPhone is actually transcribing the recording and, since it's 2 hours long, it's going to take a while, and that saving the recording won't work until the transcription is completed.

This is conjecture on my part but I would recommend you wait and let it finish at its own pace.
