I use both German and US keyboards on my Macbook Air. Primary language is set to US English, but whenever I reboot, keyboard reverts to German, which causes error when I log in. Is there a way to change which keyboard comes up on reboot?

If having US at the top of the input source list does not help, try removing German from the preferred languages list, then removing German from input sources, restarting a few times, and then adding the German input source back in.

I would restart multiple times (5 or 10) with just one keyboard, if you did not do that already.
Also could try adding a 3rd keyboard.

Make U.S. Keyboard Default:
Make sure that U.S. is af the top of the list.

Neither of these ideas worked. US keyboard was listed first, so that was already correct. Deleted German keyboard, restarted, added it back, and restarted again. After the second restart, computer defaulted back to the German keyboard.
Any other ideas?

Try a Reset:
Preferences you’ve made will be reset. So, you’ll have to add back networks and such, but contacts, photos, and schedules with stay intact. So, you’ll may want to take a few screenshots of things in the list, such as your Wi-Fi credentials.
