since the last upgrade the search ability on my iphone has become useless and cant find previous e mails. It was great beforehand now in order to search for something ‘not found’ on the I phone I have to look on my laptop! Any ideas?

Go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Search, turn off the 2 settings there, reboot your iPhone and turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.
