iOS Mail app iCloud Mail synchronization keeps getting stuck repeatedly
Dear community,
I’m writing to you as a last resort, so to speak. Since September 2025 (back then still on iOS 18), I’ve been experiencing a massive issue with the iOS Mail app.
Important: I’m only using Apple’s iCloud Mail.
The synchronization of incoming emails is extremely delayed. My iPhone does recognize that there are “3 new emails,” but it doesn’t actually download them – or only much later. Notifications are basically non-existent.
I then updated to iOS 26 and even bought a new iPhone 17 Pro, but the problem persisted there as well (most likely carried over via backup). I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with Apple Support. The case was escalated, logs were collected for the developer team. The response: the issue might be fixed with some update… at some point in the distant future. Wow. !
When iOS 26.4 came out, I looked into it again and finally found a potential workaround in . The following steps must be done exactly in this order:
- Disable data sync (Push)
- Disable iCloud Mail on the iPhone
- Delete the Mail app
- Restart the iPhone
- Reinstall the Mail app
- Enable iCloud Mail on the iPhone
- Enable data sync (Push)
And I could hardly believe it: IT WORKED — after half a year ;)
BUT: it only works for about 12 hours. After that, it gets stuck again and I have to repeat the entire process exactly to make it work again.
I really don’t want to do this twice a day like a maniac.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
