I need a Keyboard Shortcut to click a button that is outlined in blue (not filled with blue).

If a button is entirely filled in with blue then the return key functions as a mouse click to activate the button. However, if the button is outlined in blue, then the return key does nothing. I want a keyboard short cut that functions as a mouse click on a selected (outlined in blue) button. For example..

1) ctrl-F2 to move focus to the menu bar. The Apple logo on the menu bar is highlighted.

2) down arrow twice to open the menu and move to "System Settings". System Settings is filled in with blue.

3) Press return key to open System Settings. System settings opens with "General" button on sidebar is highlighted (filled in with blue).

4) Press "k" to jump to "Keyboard" entry on side panel. "Keyboard" on side panel is highlighted (filled in with blue) and Keyboard Settings are displayed on right panel.

5) Tab 12 times to get to "Keyboard Shortcuts" button. Keyboard Shortcuts button is outlined in blue but NOT filled in with blue.

6) Return key does nothing and I can't find a way to simulate a click on the Keyboard Shortcuts button. This is where I'm stuck.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Tom, press the Space bar to "click" a button with a blue border.
