Apple won't accept a passport for age verification in the UK

Why won’t apple accept a passport as a form of ID for age verification in the uk? This is a legitimate form of photo id accepted everywhere else in the uk and is the only form some people have. Not everyone has a driving licence or credit card. Does anyone know what people without either are supposed to do? I’m asking this on behalf of a relative who is in this situation and I don’t know how to help them.

Original Title: How do people without a credit card or driving licence prove their age in the UK and why won’t it accept a passport which is accepted everywhere else as a form of photo identification?

I'm in same boat . I actually got a passport last year because of problems proving my ID im nearly 60 and don't have a credit card (I can't get one anyway) and I don't drive. Trying to get parcels from parcel shops etc i needed ID . A UK Passport IS "PASS" certified so it's beyond me why it's not been included. The biggest problem is being left out in the cold by Apple, Ofcom and the Government not having any help in place for people without the requested ID. If you have a disability or accessibility problem you get an extra option on your iphone

"Manual review – disability or no supported ID" which you get a Case ID and an email address: age-verification-accommodations@apple.com.

which you send anything that proves your age with DOB

so why this isn't available for everyone is yet another shortfall by Apple
