iPod Touch apps report no network connection despite Wi-Fi

iPod Touch is connecting to my WiFi and to iTunes on my PC and knows the date, time, & my location, however Pandora and Safari and news and stock update apps aren't able to establish a connection to my network, or so they claim.

Hello Tryingtouseapplestuff. This sounds a lot like the Wi-Fi connection itself is working (since date/time/location and iTunes are syncing), but apps aren’t able to actually use the internet. That usually points to a network configuration issue rather than a hardware problem.

Try these steps:

1) Toggle Wi-Fi off and back on

==>Settings → Wi-Fi → turn off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on

2) Forget and rejoin the network

==>Settings → Wi-Fi → tap your network → “Forget This Network”

Then reconnect and re-enter the password

3) Reset network settings

==> Settings → General → Reset → Reset Network Settings

(this clears saved Wi-Fi networks but often fixes this exact issue)

4) Check date & time

==> Make sure it’s set to automatic

Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically

  1. Restart the iPod

If the issue persists, also check your router:

  • Disable any parental controls / filtering
  • Try a different Wi-Fi network to see if the problem follows the device

This is usually a DNS or network settings issue, and the reset step above fixes it in most cases.

Let me know if that helps 👍

It sounds like remnants of the Microsoft Store version are still registered, even if they’re not visible in Programs and Features. That version installs differently and can leave behind components that block the standalone installer.

You could try:

  • Going to Settings → Apps → Installed Apps and searching for anything Apple-related (not just “iTunes”)
  • Removing items like Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support if present
  • Restarting, then trying the installer again

If nothing shows, using Apple’s iTunes cleanup steps for Windows (removing all Apple components in order) or the Microsoft Store uninstall tool can help clear hidden remnants.

Which version of Windows are you on (10 or 11), and did you install iTunes originally from the Microsoft Store?

Thanks for trying to help me! After reset of the network settings I am able now to access the apps. However, the apps remain unable to "open page." Both Safari and Pandora fail to do so. I can see using router.asus.com sign in that my router is recognizing my itouch but any activity is in 10ths of a second at most. I did not find any parental controls or filtering. And I have no other WiFi networks that are accessible.

One of the steps I tried before posting here was to reinstall iTunes. I was pushed into using the microsoft store's version. That version actually removed easy access to iTunes; I can't find it using explorer.exe. So I went to apple.com and downloaded iTunes64Setup.exe which claims it cannot install until all users uninstall their versions of iTunes!!!!! There is NO visibility either in Programs and Features installed items list nor in my app Revo Uninstaller, which usually shows every tiny detail of app installations.

So my question is where can I find the item that is causing iTunes64Setup.exe to think iTunes is still installed? I'm thinking there is probably something in the registry that is causing this issue. Any clues would be appreciated!
