IOS Update 26.4 Problem

Hi, I have huge trouble with IOS 26.4. My iPhone 16 Pro didn't update properly, and I was stuck in the update loop that never ended, even after "updating" the device over 10 times. I even tried DUF reset, and of course, lost all my data until the last backup.

I can log onto the device and start it as a new Iphone but whenever I try to recover the data from my backup and load it onto the phone, the device starts heating up and shuts itself into the pre-specified update loop.

I have been on support with apple and they ran all of their diagnostics, and it seems all ok. Which it obviously isn't. I have now tried to downgrade the phone to IOS 26.3.1, but am running into all the above-described problems again and again. My last hope to downgrade it to an even older IOS version... Any other ideas?

I live super super super remote and the next apple store is over 5.000km away.

I had a similar problem and the following procedure worked for me:

I connected the iPhone via USB-Cable to my Windows PC (sorry for

that! ;.) and started Apple Devices, started the update procedure and

the update was stucked again, So I did now a hardreset and at the next

boot and it comes to recovery mode. I repeated the hard reset and after

reboot "Apple Devices" showed recovery mode. Now I started the update

again - and now it worked!

The essentials are: Don't give up , repeat the steps several

times if needed. Look for a situation where reboot stucks in updating

and subsequent boot in recovery mode, I'm pretty sure, it will work.

So happy time to those with the same problem!

Apple has never supported downgrading a released iOS version, so you will need to drop this idea.

I do not have a solution for you. If it is too far for you to visit an Apple service location, your only other option would be to ship the phone in for service.

Ask Apple Support about this option.
