Can't access Google maps after updating MacBook Air

I just did the recommended updates on my MacBook Air (Sonoma 14.6.1) and now I can't access Google maps - I get a message "your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now." There's no Recaptcha I can solve to regain access. I tried closing out Chrome and restarting it, and also restarting my laptop. Still no access to maps.
