HomePod (1st Gen) audio degraded, less bass after OS 26
Subject: Audio quality degradation on HomePod (1st Gen) after Software 26 update
Feedback Type: Bug Report / Feature Request
Comments:
Since the latest software updates (HomePod OS 26), I have noticed a significant degradation in audio quality on my stereo pair of 1st Generation HomePods.
The sound signature has changed drastically: the mid and high frequencies are now over-emphasized, while the rich, deep bass response that characterized this model has been severely reduced. It feels as if the equalization profile for the 2nd Generation HomePod (which has a different hardware architecture) is being incorrectly applied to the 1st Generation hardware.
I have already tried a full factory reset and recalibration, but the audio remains thin and "tinny" compared to previous versions.
Feature Request:
Please consider adding a toggle or a specific "Legacy Audio Profile" in the Home App settings for 1st Gen HomePod users, allowing us to restore the original bass-heavy tuning that we purchased these devices for. The current "Reduce Bass" toggle is not enough, as the base tuning itself feels broken on older hardware.
