iPhone 13 Pro Max: 'Slow Charger' notification issue

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using my iPhone 13 Pro Max with a 20W USB-C power adapter and an authentic Apple cable for a while now, and everything was working fine. Recently, though, I’ve started seeing the "Slow Charger" notification almost every time I plug it in.

I haven’t changed any of my charging equipment, and both the adapter and cable are genuine. I’m trying to figure out whether this is a sign of an issue with the charging port (like it’s not drawing enough power) or if the device itself is responding differently to the same charger.

Has anyone else experienced this with their iPhone 13 Pro Max? Could this be related to iOS updates, battery health, or hardware wear? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Even with a genuine 20W Apple adapter and cable, the “Slow Charger” message on an iPhone usually points to either reduced power delivery or something interrupting optimal charging conditions. The most common cause I see in cases like this is debris or wear in the Lightning port. Even a small amount of lint can prevent full pin contact, which makes the phone fall back to slower charging speeds. I’d recommend carefully inspecting and cleaning the port (using a wooden or plastic tool, not metal), and testing with another known-good Apple cable if possible.

If the issue persists after cleaning the port and verifying battery health, the next step would be testing with a different power adapter or having Apple run diagnostics to rule out a hardware issue with the charging circuitry.
