iPhone 14 charging port failing to connect

I have an iPhone 14 using iOS 26.3.1(a). Like many others who have posted here and across the web, my charging port is failing to connect, requiring repeated attempts to begin charging. I only use Apple charging cords. I have not stuck anything into the charging port other than the charging cord.

I would greatly prefer not to have to use a charging pad for the rest of this phone's life. Is anyone aware of a solution to this issue?

Do you have another device to use to test the Apple cable that you are using? If yes, and the other device can charge using that cable, at least you know that the cable is good.

You also mentioned that you use Apple cords, implying that you may have more than one cord, correct? If yes, I assume that you have tried other cables with the iPhone 14 to see if that will work.....correct? If not, test using another cable or cables to see if the iPhone 14 will connect that way.

If it turns out that the port on the iPhone 14 is not working correctly, Apple will not generally repair or replace the port, they will replace the entire circuit board which includes the port. That is an expensive deal, likely in the $400-500 range for service.

Would it make sense to spend that kind of money on an iPhone 14? Probably not. If it were me, I would use wireless charging and save the money toward a new phone in a few years......but, your call on that.

Hello~ Your best option is to make an appointment with Apple and have it checked out. Once you know what issue that you’re facing …you can survey your options…

I discourage the use of compressed air and air to clean out your port. It could cause more damage than good. See link below…

Troubleshooting Charging After an Update:

Update to iOS 26.4

There are plenty of reports of this. Though not preferred, if you cannot get a wire to work, then a MagSafe charger seems what to use, in order to get the latest update version installed: iOS 26.4

Troubleshooting iPhone Charge:

Visit the following links for tips on troubleshooting this...

I. Try what is on this Link: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't Turn on or is Frozen - Apple Support

II. View the Battery Health:

Apple recommends you get a new battery, once the Battery Health reaches 80% or lower. When the Battery Health is 80% or lower, it is time for a new battery.

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: Battery
  3. Tap: Battery Health
  4. View: [the percentage]
  5. Is it 80% or less?  If so, it is time for a new battery.

III. Perform a Restart:

Try Force Restarting your iPhone. Save any information that need be. Then perform the restart.

Go Here: Force Restart iPhone - Apple Support

Thanks to all for the quick replies. Yes, this problem exists using multiple Apple charging cords. Yes, I have tried using a toothpick to clean out any lint-- a flashlight does not show any. Yes, by "jiggling" the charging cord, or reinserting it at slightly different angles I can get the phone to charge. This ends up being a 3-5 minute process. Yes, I can carry around a charging pad to obviate the problem. Yes, I can buy a new phone (see next paragraph, as I believe that is the intent...).
