I have verified successfully using my passport this morning. When prompted for either side, use the section with your passport number and other details for both scans. Make sure you use a dark background and the image is not blurry, as it may be rejected. You might have to try several times.

I have the same problem, I don't have a credit card, not everybody uses credit some people prefer to save for what they want/need, nor do I have a driving licence or a passport, this is a form of discrimination. How can I remove this update.

The update cannot be removed and that is not just this update, there has never been a supported method to remove any update. In addition to the Credit Card or Driver's License you also have the option of:

  • TOTUM card
  • CitizenCard
  • MyID Card
  • YSNE card

Without Age Verification used by one of those methods your phone is still usable, but some actions will be limited for compliance with the Child Online Safety regulations passed by the UK. For example, Communication Safety will be turned on to blur any photos that contain nudity and Web Filters will block access to websites where adult content may be seen.

As I have already stated in my previous message, I have neither a credit card nor photo card driving license. I feel a feel that this is a severe disadvantage to anyone in this position, bordering almost on discrimination. If I am unable to use my passport to verify my identification please advise whether this latest update can be removed from my iPhone.

I don't have any of these cards either and I don't know anyone who has.
Why does it have to be a credit card there is nothing wrong with a debit card not everyone wants to live beyond their means.

Because Ofcom says that a Debit Card cannot be used for Age Verification. Ofcom is who the UK relies on for the regulations they enacted in the law. That was not something that was restricted by Apple. No one is able to use a Debit Card in compliance with the UK law for the Age Assurance checks.
