I’m not paying £30 to get a citizen card to verify my id when I have a licence that I use for id daily 🤷🏻‍♂️ defeats the objective of having a government issued licence

Call your MP to complain. Your government made the rules. Read the requirements set forth by Apple in the support document posted by Bob Timmons.

From that support document...

  • You can confirm your age with a credit card, or by scanning a driver's license or one of the following PASS-accredited Proof of Age cards: CitizenCard, My ID Card, TOTUM ID card, or Young Scot National Entitlement Card. If you already have an Apple Account, Apple will check if you have a credit card on file or other eligible methods available to confirm that you're 18 or older.

As usual Apple gets blamed when forced to comply with a government’s regulations. And as usual Apple decided to do it now and make it more stringent to prevent getting fined a huge amount of money for noncompliance.

I have an Apple account but so what? What's it got to do with validating my age? Also, the validating process has changed on the iphone, before you had the option of some other national id as well as a credit card but the alternative is no longer available but like I said, a driving licence doesn't work. What a complete ballsup Apple have made of it.

Well I got a provisional driving licence (UK) and the iphone doesn't recognise it.
BTW, I tried to access the original discussion via my history and my access was denied by Apple!

Is your provisional driving license the newer Photo Card or the old paper one?

You may see the Access Denied message when a post has been removed. That can happen when a violation of the Terms of Use has occurred (the terms have been accepted by everyone posting here). There is also a certain amount of Etiquette that is expected when posting. It does not mean you have violated any of the terms, but someone else may have that just led the entire post to devolve in shouting matches or disrespectful comments. Those are typical on Social Media sites, but certainly not acceptable on a Support Site.
