Accidentally turned on an accessibility option but don’t know what it is. I connect my headphones and a voice over says something like “voice search button double tap to select” then disconnects my headphones. I’ve reset the voice over options and rebooted my phone but this didn’t do anything.
One option is to reset all of your settings. Settings>General>Transfer or Reset iPhone>Reset>Reset All Settings. But then you have to set all your settings up again.
Try going to Settings>Accessibility>Audio & Visual and making sure everything is turned off.
What headphones are these? Are they AirPods?

With that additional information, my guess would be that the Airpods have reached the end of their useful life.
