Stop Siri from saying mmhmm. We don’t need it to say anything, a simple sound indicating it has heard us is fine. No one asks a question quick enough to avoid it from saying mmhmm. It’s distracting not to mention annoying. Whenever I cannot find my phone I simply say “Siri where are you?” No wonder people don’t like Siri and are moving away from it an Apple.
It will work without the pause after Siri and you will not hear any mmmhmm. There is no pause needed to register an activation and continuing in one complete sentence will do the track. This is often seen from those coming from Alexa or Google where it requires you to pause after the activation word. Users going from Apple to Alexa/Google find that they are used to talking in a complete sentence without the pause and it fails to activate.
If you ask your friend a question you say "Hey Joe what are you doing today", you don't say "Hey Joe....", otherwise you would expect them to say "Yea", "mmhmm" or some other form of acknowledgement.
You don't need to worry about Apple, they are doing just fine. Double digit growth posted every year and currently sitting at 2.5 Billion active devices.

I’ve not encountered Siri prompting me to provide my command since I stopped pausing and started provided the command or the question straight away. “Hey Siri please set a chicken tenders timer for thirty minutes”, for instance.
Another option that will avoid getting prompted to provide the command is to disable the verbal summoning entirely, use the button press to activate Siri manually, and immediately state the command. “please set a parking meter timer for thirty minutes”, for instance.
You can change how long Siri waits for you to finish speaking in Settings > Accessibility > Siri, but I don’t know if selecting Longer or Longest for the Siri pause time will also defer the command prompt. Maybe also adjusting the speaking rate to slower, too.

You can't really. But, it might help to say something like "Hey Siri" and continue speaking with no break or slight pause at all after the "Hey Siri".
"Hey Siri"......"What is the temperature?" won't do it.
"Hey Siri what is the temperature?" might do it.
Works for me, but your mileage may vary.

That is an entirely implausible argument. You've already formulated the question you're going to ask before you even say, "Hey, Siri". So why would you need to pause at all?
