Anker USB-C hub issues with Tahoe suddenly: both on my laptop and my partner's laptop

My partner and I both have the same Anker USB-C dongle, and suddenly both of our M1 Macbook Pros are failing to recognize monitors, mouse, keyboards, anything plugged into the dongle. It's also not allowing charging. At first I thought it was an issue with my ports, but then my partner was also having the problem suddenly, so this has to be something recent in MacOS. This is sporadic and happens in fits and starts. Sometimes a restart will get it working again for a while, but the problem keeps coming back. Any thoughts? I guess we need to reach out to Anker as well? Super frustrating – I'm a designer and I need this stuff working correctly.

I am having issues as well. I wrote to Anker support, and I'm waiting for further reply. My product is different, but exhibits issues that have caused my new Macbook Pro M5 MAX to reboot, twice (!!).

M5 Max (Mac17,6) kernel panic: DART write protect exception on dart-usb0 with Anker Prime TB5 dock (A83B5, fw 62.1)

MacBook Pro M5 Max running macOS 26.4.1 (25E253)

I've seen kernel panicking with a DART SID 1 write protect exception on dart-usb0. USB logs show AppleUSBXHCI::createPorts: ports limit reached and a device blocked by transport restrictions. Both panics are identical — same DART address, same backtrace through AppleT8110DART, same IOUSBHostHIDDevice as last loaded kext. The dock is an Anker Prime TB5 14-in-1 (A83B5).

The Anker Dock Manager app ("AnkerProduct") cannot detect the dock to apply firmware updates, even with all peripherals removed. Appears to be a T6050 XHCI port enumeration limit issue with this class of 14-in-1 dock.

I have verified that the accessory has permission, I have added Full Disk Access and Input Monitoring permissions, to no avail.

So I suspect there is a larger issue with Anker firmware and newer Apple Silicon/OS.

I also am having issues suddenly after updating to MacOS Tahoe. When plugging in, the MacBook briefly will recognize the usb c hub before seemingly ignoring it. Waiting around 5-10 minutes seems to let it do its handshake again and finally connect and be functional.

it’s quite sporadic and unpredictable. Before updating to macOS Tahoe, it worked flawlessly every time.

i did recently change to always allow usb devices to connect, and that seemed to help a bit, but it’s still hit or miss…

verify your software is up to date—

The current stable release of Tahoe including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 26.4 - I would start there

From the linked description on Amazon, that appears to be a plain USB-C (not Thunderbolt) hub. It has a single video port (a HDMI port) for driving a monitor. The description says that compatible devices are "Windows and MacBook computers that support USB-C with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery …"

In other words, there is no sign that it has potentially troublesome dependencies on

  • DisplayPort MST, or
  • A workaround (like DisplayLink) that would require the installation of a special driver (which might break with the release of updates to macOS)

Your tag line says you are running Tahoe. It looks like there have been four Tahoe releases since the beginning of this year.
