Apple Watch Activation Lock removal without serial number showing on the receipt? Help!

We have a really difficult situation with a young lady we’ve just taken in from a bad home situation and she is now no-contact with her parents. She’s 17 but her parents never allowed her to have her own Apple ID. She bought her Apple Watch 18 months ago with her money but her dad had the receipt put in his name, and there’s no serial number on the receipt (common with this retailer, but at least we do have the receipt). Her watch was paired to her old phone which her parents took off her the night before we uplifted her, and they have now changed their Apple password. She has a new iPhone with her own Apple ID, but of course she can’t pair her watch to it without the new password to remove it from the old account. Without the receipt showing the watch serial number, does anyone have any insight as to whether or not there is the remotest possibility that Apple will consider a request from her to remove the Activation Lock? Or what documents might be needed to support a request? It was the last thing on her mind at the time - but it’s yet another struggle (of MANY) as she tries to gain her autonomy and independence. We don’t have an Apple Store near us - the only one is in Auckland and we’re a whole day’s drive away - so it will be an online request. Any advice would be really appreciated. She’s so close to 18 that we were hoping she wouldn’t have to get lawyers involved 😢 Thanks for any advice you can offer. Not looking for judgement of the young lady or her situation, please. She has a LOT of healing ahead of her and just needs love and support.

The links provided by Rudegar will be useful but ultimately the ownership of this watch needs to be established. If the receipt does not clearly identify this watch as belonging to the young woman, it is not clear to me how to convince Apple that the watch was not stolen from her parent, whose Apple ID is attached to the activation lock and whose name appears on the receipt.

It might make sense to simply obtain a new Apple Watch in her name and set it up with her Apple ID. It may be quite difficult if not impossible to convince Apple to somehow release the activation lock from the original Apple Watch.
