iPhone 11 Mail: Gmail account verification issue on MacBook

Mail app question for iPhone 11. I added a second gmail account and want to add it to my phone using the iPhone mail app, not the Gmail app, although it is a Gmail account (FYI: I had downloaded the gmail app but don't like it).

I was prompted to verify it's me. WHY does this happen if my devices are synced? Why did I get an email that says security alert? Regardless, I can't add a second email account to my iPhone mail app for this reason. It says enter Yes on my other device, my MacBook but the screen doesn't prompt me to do anything.

I checked online and obviously it's for new phones and I have the 11. Kind of frustrating.

Can someone please advise instructions? Thank you in advance.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.7
