MacBook Pro not appearing in Find My despite being signed into iCloud and trying most known fixes on the internet.

Similar to user mcardlepm, my findmy has been broken on my macbook pro M3 and I have been unable to re-enable it. I have tried everything. I've disabled and re-enabled FindMy, logged out and back into iCloud (under either my email OR my phone number), restarted and done complete shut downs of my computer. And absolutely nothing works. I assumed it would be fixed with the Tahoe update but still nothing worked. What do I do because I don't want to lose my laptop or get it stolen.

Here's what I successfully did to fix the same issue on my M2 MacBook Air. I really could not find what causes this issue to begin with in the first place but this worked for me to fix it permanently. I really don't know why this would work but it did. I believe I found it in a Reddit post.

  1. Shut down the Mac
  2. Restart the Mac in Recovery mode
  3. Within Recovery mode, enter Disk Utility
  4. Run First Aid on all volumes
  5. Restart the Mac
  6. Verify Find My is enabled on the Mac using the Find My app (you may need to re-enable it in Settings it but I didn't).
