Location keeps saying “yesterday” even after multiple days

I’m sharing location with someone, and their location keeps saying “yesterday” even after multiple days. I assumed their phone is off, however, I ran a test with my second phone that I share location with, and turned it off. When it had been off 24 hrs, it changed to “yesterday”. When it had been off 48 hrs, it changed to “2 days”. This makes sense.

So why is this other person’s location stuck at “yesterday” even after multiple days? I assumed they have their phone off, but it should count the days like it did with my own phone.

What does it mean that it’s stuck at “yesterday” after multiple days, and is there something I can do on my end to see if the location updates?

Please no overly basic answers, I have restarted my phone and everything like that.

To use Find My and Location Services on an iPhone effectively, both your iPhone and the device you're trying to locate must have an active internet connection. These services rely on internet access to share your location with friends and family and to track the locations of devices, people, and items. Without internet connectivity on either end, the sharing and locating features of Find My and Location Services will not function properly. --> Internet not available WiFi and Cellular … - Apple Community

Yes, I know that. All phones should be connected to the Internet, and if someone you’re sharing location with isn’t connected (such as if you turn the phone off) it will stop updating the location. However, when it’s been more than 48 hrs, it should say “2days” and when it’s been three days it should say “3 days”, etc. But after multiple days, it’s stuck at “yesterday”.
