Windows 7 ISO download 64 bit for bootcamp

Received an old 2015 MacBook Air as gift and plan to run Windows 7 with bootcamp on it as two of my apps only support Windows 7. Does anyone know a safe place to download Windows 7 professional 64 bit? The microsoft website no longer provide download for Windows 7.

Finding a legitimate Windows 7 ISO download directly from Microsoft in 2026 is no longer possible, as the company stopped providing them years ago. The most reliable source is the Internet Archive, which hosts a collection of the original, unmodified Windows 7 ISO files that Microsoft itself once distributed. While these links are safe, you must take one extra step to verify the file you download is authentic and hasn't been tampered with.

How to get Windows 7 ISO download:

1. Visit archive.org and search for "Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit" or use a direct link to the "digital river" collection, which is a well-known repository of the original Microsoft ISOs .

2. Look for the file with a name similar to en_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677088.iso. The exact filename may vary slightly by language, but ensure it specifies "Professional" and "x64" .

3. Download the file to your MacBook Air. A 64-bit Windows 7 ISO is about 5.5GB, so this may take some time.

You mentioned this is an older MacBook Air. A crucial thing to know is that Windows 7 does not natively support USB 3.0 for Windows 7 ISO download.

Since your MacBook Air only has USB 3.0 ports, the keyboard and mouse will not work when you try to install Windows 7 from a standard USB drive . To fix this, you need to "inject" the USB 3.0 drivers into your Windows 7 installer.

About the Windows 7 ISO download. The most straightforward way to do this for a Mac is to let Boot Camp Assistant handle the entire process for you. The latest version of Boot Camp for your 2015 MacBook Air will be able to create a Windows 7 installer that includes all the necessary drivers.
