Battery cycle count stuck – updates only after shutdown/restart then gets stuck again?!

Specs: iPhone 15 Pro Max A3106 International; model number MU793QN/A; latest iOS update 26.4;

Description: Battery cycle count gets stuck and stops updating. It only refreshes after a full shutdown + restart or force restart, but then becomes stuck again shortly after. Tried multiple times – the issue always returns until I repeat the shutdown/restart. Anyone else facing this and how to fix ?!

Subject: Unexpected Battery Cycle Count Behavior on iPhone 16

Hello Apple Support,

I am experiencing an issue with the battery cycle count on my iPhone 16 and would appreciate your assistance.

I’ve noticed that each time I charge my phone to 100% and use it down to 0%, the battery cycle count decreases by 2 to 3 counts instead of reflecting a single cycle. Additionally, I’ve observed that performing a force restart also appears to reduce the cycle count by 1.

This behavior seems unusual and inconsistent with my understanding of how battery cycle counts should function. My expectation is that one full charge and discharge (100% to 0%) should correspond to one cycle.

Could you please clarify whether this is expected behavior or a potential issue with my device? If this is not normal, I would appreciate guidance on how to resolve it or steps for further

For reference:

  • Device: iPhone 16
  • iOS Version: 26.4.1
  • Current Battery Cycle Count: 47

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,

Otor Abraham Osareme
