iOS 26.4.1 lag and stuttering on iPhone 17 Pro Max

Hello,

I hope everyone is well. I would like to share my experience with iOS 26.4.1 on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Despite the impressive hardware and the powerful A19 Pro chip, I have consistently experienced significant lag and stuttering in the user interface. Restarting the device did not resolve these issues. The main concern appears to be with iOS 26, which has exhibited persistent bugs and performance problems from version 26.0 through 26.4.1. I have submitted feedback to Apple regarding these issues, but they remain unresolved. In comparison, iOS 18 offered much better stability and optimization. I hope the Software Engineering Team will address these concerns in iOS 26.5 by improving stability, optimization, efficiency, performance, and security.

Hi Ahmed.
I have the same issues as you mentioned on my 14 Pro with IOS26.4.1. The lag and frame drops is very noticeable across the UI and never had anything like that in the past.

What troubleshooting have you done, such as a forced restart?

Have you contacted Apple support?

Best way:

  • Install the Apple Support app on your iPhone - you can contact support directly from the app, and the tech will have (with your permission) access to diagnostic data on your device

Other options:

(Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat)

First, the software engineering team doesn’t read this forum.

Second, this is a problem with your iPhone, not ~100 million other iPhones, so it needs to be diagnosed and fixed on your iPhone. You can contact Apple support from the Apple Support app on your iPhone, or by clicking the Support link at the bottom of this page.

What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Thank you for sharing your concerns, Ahmed_171. 😉

I’m sorry to read that you’re experiencing performance issues on your iPhone.

As Lawrence Finch had mentioned, it is running fine for him and it is also working fine with me as well.

Force your iPhone to restart:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (this might take longer than 10 seconds).

If that doesn’t help, then → Get Service.

Thanks again for sharing your concerns with us. Your feedback is appreciated. 👍🏼

Good luck! 👋🏼😉
