Apple Calendar on iPad: Month view opens to event

I have an Ipad A16 runnig 26.3.1

When I open Apple Calendar, set for ‘month view’, it opens showing the next upcoming event as if I had tapped on it.

I do not want it to do that. I want it to open cleanly in month view as I have it set. I cannot find a setting to get rid

of the ‘next event’ window automatically opening.

thoughts? advice? very annoying….
