iPad Pro Magic Keyboard quit working

Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 13” M4 no longer works since last 2 updates. I’ve tried all of the suggested things…cleaned the connections, updated again, reset iPad and network settings…. Charged the keyboard….everything….but nothing has worked.

If you have already cleaned the pins, updated software, and reset settings without success, your M4 iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard may be suffering from a known iPadOS software conflict or a localized hardware failure in the Smart Connector pins or passthrough circuit.

Please try this

  • Toggle AssistiveTouch: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch, turn it On, and then turn it Off. This forces iPadOS to refresh external pointer and keyboard driver recognition.
  • Check Passthrough Charging: Plug a USB-C charger directly into the Magic Keyboard port while attached to the iPad. If the iPad fails to charge through the keyboard, the internal passthrough logic or Smart Connector pin alignment has likely failed. Test on Another Unit: Take your iPad to an Apple Store  or an authorized reseller to snap it onto a display model Magic Keyboard (or test your keyboard on another compatible 13" M4 iPad Pro). This isolates whether the fault lies in the iPad's rear contacts or the keyboard itself.
