Apple Watch needs a proper step counter complication
Why is step count so hard to see on Apple Watch?
I’ve been using Apple Watch daily and one thing that doesn’t make sense is how hidden step count is.
Steps are one of the most basic fitness metrics, but:
- There’s no simple way to see them directly on most watch faces
- You have to open the Fitness app or rely on third-party apps
- Even then, the updates don’t always feel real-time
If you’re actually trying to increase your daily activity, step count is way more straightforward than the rings. It’s easy to understand and track moment-to-moment.
Right now it feels like Apple is intentionally downplaying steps, even though it’s one of the most useful metrics for a lot of people.
Is there any built-in way to track steps live that I’m missing?
And does anyone else think Apple should add a proper real-time step complication to watch faces?
