Apple SuperDrive not working on Mac Studio M1 Max

My Superdrive does not work on my Mac Studio. Any ideas?

The Superdrive does not work at all. It won't pull the disk inside the unit. It as if there is no power to the drive.

The Superdrive is connected directly to the rear USB A connector of my Mac Studio M1 Max, 10 CPU version, Mac OS 15.7.5.

The superdrive works perfectly connected to an older Intel version Mac Laptop.

A mouse works when connected to the same USB A port on the Mac Studio.

Same problem with two quite different CDs.
