Logic Pro 12.2 cant change track icons, pop up menu doesn't appear.

Since this update, I can only change one track icon. As soon as I create a new track, the pop-up menu for track icons (custom icons) doesn't appear when I try to select it. Also not working in the Inspector menu. I tried all the steps that I could find on internet, such as " Remove .plist files". Nothing seems to work. The menu and icons must still be there, because it only shows once.

I searched for Logic in Activity Monitor after closing the app and noticed LogicProThumbnail was still running

I killed the process, reopened Logic and voila! icons work again!!

I have stumbled upon a possible fix for you.

At least it fixed the issue for me and I can now open the track icon palette again.

There are a handful of folders in the ~User/Music/Audio Music Apps folder.

One in particular, /Channel Strip Settings caught my eye, so I took the steps below.

• Quit Logic Pro

• Renamed the "Channel Strip Settings" folder to "renamed Channel Strip Settings", and left it in place.

So now had the folder ~User/Music/Audio Music Apps/renamed Channel Strip Settings.

• Launched Logic Pro 12 and opened an existing project. Made a minor edit to the project and then Quit Logic without saving the project.

• I now saw that Logic had created a new "Channel Strip Settings" folder, apparently as replacement for the default folder that I had previously renamed. I deleted this new folder replacement.

• Returned to the previously renamed folder and restored its name to Channel Strip Settings.

• Launched Logic Pro again, opened an existing project and can now open the track icon palette from both the track header and the Track inspector panel. The icon palette also continues to work when I create a new project.

I hope this works for you, too.

You're welcome.

And, please don't misunderstand - there is plenty of help to be found here in the community and others will likely chime in here to help. Patience.

I was merely suggesting that filing feedback is the way to help ensure Apple gets the message about problems in its apps and hardware.

In fact, I also have the same problem that you are experiencing with the track icons and inability to open the pallet to change it. And I've also filed feedback about it. I'm sure Apple will address this in a future update.

Follow up-

Never mind. The above did not fix.

I was surprised when I was able to access the icons after my actions, but have now discovered those actions did nothing. I had not realized that my issue is intermittent.

Sometimes Logic does open the palette and sometimes it does not. And it seems to depend on the session. By that I mean, if I start a session with Logic and the icon palette works, it will continue to work until I quit Logic. But it may or may not work the next time I launch the app.

I have not discovered what might be triggering the failure of the icon palette for any particular session.
