How can I completely uninstall Apple Intelligence from my MacBook Pro M1?

It takes much more than 2 GB, and cannot be removed.

One easy way to free up about 2 GB, assuming you don't use GarageBand, is to delete its libraries. System Settings > General > Storage, click the (i) to the right of Music Creation.

You cannot remove it as it is part of the operating system. You can disable it (default) in System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri panel.

No guarantees as to the safety of efficacy of this procedure. I recently rolled back from 26.4 to 26.3.1. One of the first things I did was disable Apple Intelligence. But still, in System Settings > Storage > macOS, it showed 96 MB for Apple Intelligence.

1) Make sure Apple Intelligence is disabled and restart

2) Startup in Recovery mode. Hold down the power button until you get "continue holding for recovery options". Then click "Options" and continue. Select an administrator account and enter the password.

3) Run Disk Utility at the bottom of the menu

4) Expand "Macintosh HD" and select "Data". Click the "Mount" button.

5) Quit Disk Utility and then run Terminal from the Utilities menu

6) Run the following three commands:

cd /Volumes/Data/System/Library/AssetsV2/

rm -rf com_apple_MobileAsset_UAF_FM_GenerativeModels

rm -rf com_apple_MobileAsset_UAF_FM_Visual

7) Restart

After doing the above procedure, I went to System Settings > Storage > macOS and it shows nothing for Apple Intelligence - not a value of 0, nothing whatsoever.

2 GB or 12.36 GB on a reasonable larger SSD Drive is not really going to make a to much big difference

So, perhaps the user could enlighten us on why Apple Intelligence is the Focus and not something else like Videos, Music, Photo and any other files that are under the User's Direct Control ?

Mine was already small at 92 MB. Most likely because after doing a fresh install of Tahoe to an empty volume, the very first thing I did was go into Settings to turn Apple AI off. It was then stuck on whatever amount of data it has already downloaded.

Still, I gave it a try (older, similar instructions I had like this no longer worked at all). This one got the amount down to 66 MB. Not everything, but better than no change at all.

That’s fair—12.5 GB is a significant amount of space, especially if the feature isn’t working properly.

But if Apple Intelligence were functioning as intended, would the storage trade-off feel more reasonable to you?
