The cardio recovery data is still there. For me I can see this for all workouts going back to when I acquired the watch.

In the Health app on the iPhone (the phone linked to the Apple Watch), on the Summary screen click the small arrow in the upper right of the box for "Sessions." For me, this shows all my workouts by date, which for me includes cycling workouts and outdoor walks. (You can then, if you wish, select just one type of workout, again all shown by date.)

Select one of the Sessions, it can be a recent one or one way in the past), then select Heart Rate, and it will show the Heart Rate during the workout (including "zones," e.g. Zone 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) and also below that the 3 min recovery plot which is labeled to show the heart rate when the session ended rate and then as a function of time up to 3 min recovery. For instance, for my recent bike ride, I had periods with heart rate in Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 (Zone 4 is 135-146 bpm) and when the workout ended my heart rate was 105 bpm (Zone 1) and 3 min later it was 65.

I can see this for any sessions going all the way back to December when I acquired this watch.

Here are a few additional things to try:

1. Make sure Cardio Fitness is enabled. Go to the Health app on your iPhone > Browse > Heart > Cardio Fitness, and ensure the feature is turned on. If it was disabled, re-enable it and wait for a few workouts to see if data starts appearing again.

2. Check that your workout type supports cardio recovery. The feature works with Outdoor Run, Indoor Run, Outdoor Walk, Hiking, and Outdoor Cycling. If you're doing other workout types, cardio recovery data may not be generated.

3. Verify that your Apple Watch has a stable heart rate reading throughout the workout. If the watch loses contact with your wrist or the heart rate sensor is obstructed, it may not record the recovery data properly.

4. Try unpairing and re-pairing your Apple Watch. This can reset any corrupted health data settings. Before doing this, make sure to create a backup.

5. Check if the watchOS 26.4 update had any known issues. Sometimes Apple releases minor updates to fix bugs introduced in a major update.

After a while, I guess I know what the issue is. When going for a walk I saw cardio recovery updated in the stats. The difference is that while walking, I did not wear my Polar strap connected to the watch via BT, as I do when I run.

For the latest exercise, cardio recovery is always shown in iPhone Health app, wearing the Polar device or not. But when wearing the Polar, the stats are not stored and kept up to date, for some reason. Apple Watch and the Health app both do know the cardio recovery in both cases but for some reason it is not stored if using the Polar device. I'd say the fault is in the Apple Health app. It has the data but for some reason does not store it.

(And yes, I am antti195, accidentally used a wrong account when posting above).

Hoping for a quick fix in next software update.

Do you mean the three minute time after exercise stops, as your heartrate goes down? And the stats of that from recent times?

If yes, both my wife and I both have this problem. Me with Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Wife with Watch 10.

You can see the most recent exercise (outside run in our case) heart rate recovery data, but the stats for me end at the beginning of April, and the wife's watch stopped saving the stats in March.

We tried to boot the phones but that didn't work. Maybe restarting the watches might help, have to try that next.

OK, so clarifying out what I do see and what I miss that should be there.

Below is an image about the stats of heart rate recovery in Health app (Search > Heart > Heart rate recovery; I am not sure what are the English terms since my iPhone is in Finnish). As you can see, the stats end at 3.4., that is April 3rd, and now it is April 22nd:

So, data stops right there on April 3rd. My wife has the same issue, but the data ends in the image above already somewhere around March.

However, when looking at the Summary screen, towards the bottom, it shows my latest run yesterday (I can verify that is the yesterday's run based on the ending time of the run) heart rate recovery:

So, apparently the watch / Health app is collecting this data, but for some reason the data is not anymore shown in the upper image about the heart rate recovery stats. Maybe it collects the hr recovery data for the most recent run but fails to add it to the stats / database?

Anyways, a bit frustrating since this recovery data gives important information about the aerobic fitness.

Have already rebooted both the iPhone and the Watch (which have the most recent updates from Apple). Also, I've given Apple feedback on this issue using their feedback channel. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.

I have the same problem - my Cardio Recovery stopped updating after May 2. I am doing nothing different since that point, using the exact same app (Runmeter) and Polar strap during my runs. The watch is definitely recording the data, as the Highlights section in Health shows the Heart Rate: Post-Workout trend, which leads me to believe that Apple broke something in the Health app specific to Cardio Recovery during one of the iOS updates.

Thanks for that, since my recovery stopped recording we have had an update so that should have rebooted everything.

I have a possible theory that I’m now working on in that the ejection fraction of my heart has improved to the point, thanks to a cardiologist, to where I have the heart capacity of a younger man so my normal dog walks don’t stretch me enough so I’m trying to jog/run while watching my heart rate on my watch and my watch is trying to work out what has changed and has a lot of “spinning“ to try to measure my heart rate. Also at the end of the workout we now get a chance to enter how hard we worked eg easy or hard so maybe this affects the recovery?

once again thanks for your input. 👍
